Formed in 1995, Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technological Education (SLIATE) is a Junior University under the direct supervision of the Higher Education Ministry of Sri Lanka. Currently, there are 19 fully operational Advanced Technological Institutes throughout the island including 11 ATIs and 08 ATI Sections.
At present, SLIATE conducts 16 Higher National Diplomas.
The Academic Staff consists of both Permanent lecturers as well as Visiting lecturers affiliated to recognized schools and universities.
The Higher National Diploma in English (HND in English) aims at developing student proficiency in English Language focusing mainly on reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. The program consists of two-year course work and a six-month in-plant training /project.
